Our Journey

The History of Free Earth Festival

From a 90s spark to Europe’s only beach-based transformational gathering. Built by a community of artists, makers, and dreamers.

Roots

The Free Earth Festival stands as a hallmark event in Europe, distinguished as the continent’s sole beach festival of its kind. Our journey, rooted in the vibrant culture of the 1990s, is driven by a commitment to revive the outdoor party vibe.

2013

The concept becomes real

After years of vision, the festival’s definitive concept took shape and launched as a Greek open-air. The goal was to rekindle trust and support among Greek and international audiences. Against the odds, the dream took flight.

Team

A symphony of visionaries, artists, musicians, coordinators, managers, designers, promoters, technicians, craftsmen, and volunteers formed a single crew. Together we introduced a sustainable model in Greece that blends creativity, joy, and respect.

2013–2014

Ancient Olympia beginnings

Hosted in Ancient Olympia by the Alfios River, we grew with intention. Attendance rose from 1,000 to 1,500 with one third international guests. The first editions featured a main stage and a chill-out, superior sound, bold deco, and an eclectic lineup.

2015

Pause to evolve

We paused to refine the vision, shifted to a biennial rhythm, rebuilt production, and deepened the identity of our stages. The push for a truly eco-sustainable experience set us on a path to the North and to the sea.

2016

European beach edition

Kypsa Beach, Halkidiki, hosted ~3,000 people. With Parvati Records, we expanded to three stages and added official pre and after parties. The atmosphere changed forever.

2018

Azapiko milestone

A major leap with an art gallery, kids area, and 3,500 attendees from 80 countries. Momentum turned annual as we committed to a fully sustainable open-air experience. Rapid growth brought challenges. We solved them and learned fast.

2019

Five years strong

A multicultural celebration of 4,000 people from 100 countries set a new mark for Greek festivals. One of our best editions.

2023

Supermoon Edition

We moved to Asprovalta Camping for shaded camping, permanent facilities, and a wide beach. Zero failures. Huge online buzz. A proof of our shared vision. With Mystic Sound Records, we evolved our Oxygen Stage to a proper stage with eclectic electronic music.

2024

A 5,000-strong family

Meticulous curation, immersive installations, and vibrant workshops delivered an electrifying experience that raised the standard yet again. Rapid growth brought challenges. We solved them and learned fast.

2025

Another step forward

Another step up in scale and production with improved flow for camping and stages and a refined sound and lights program. Tickets reached sell-out pace early as the community kept growing. Also one of our best editions.

2026

What’s next

Free Earth 2026 brings back the Parvati Stage, a refreshed beach layout at a new venue, upgraded Earth Village and deeper art routes. A late August sky will host a partial lunar eclipse during the festival week. Another unforgettable experience on the way ... A new chapter unfolds after the festival. A small gathering, same family energy, new horizon.

Free Earth is a living story. Built with care. Grown by community. See you at the beach.
